What is the dress code?

Campers must wear comfortable, loose clothing that will allow for rigorous physical movement. All campers must wear closed toed athletic shoes and socks (no crocs). All clothing must be free of profanity, advertisements for alcohol or illegal substances and generally in good taste.

What should be brought to camp?

Please make sure your child a lunch with plenty of snacks, a water bottle, and sunscreen with your camper. Spray sunscreen is recommended for quick and easy application.

Please help us keep camp a SCREEN FREE ZONE! Do NOT to send cell phones, gaming systems, or electronic devices.

MCAOP provides all athletic equipment. Do not bring sports equipment as it might become damaged, lost, or stolen.

Campers are not allowed to bring any kind of lighters, explosives or weapons to the camp (this includes Swiss army knives, etc.)

MCAOP, its staff and subsidiaries, and facility hosts are NOT responsible for any damaged, lost or stolen items which the students may elect to bring.

What are behavior expectations of campers?

It is vital that all campers (and staff) feel safe while at MCAOP. Campers are to expected to behave in a polite and respectful manner towards other campers and staff. Campers must listen and follow staff instructions. Profanity, disrespect, name calling, running away, bullying, taunting, and fighting will not be tolerated. There will be varying levels of consequences based on circumstances.

MCAOP requests that parents remind their children of the correct way to behave while in camp. If at any time a parent can no longer support the policies of the camp, they are encouraged to withdraw their child. Parents may not upbraid, insult or otherwise abuse staff and/or other campers.

Repeated violation of the rules and guidelines, or a single egregious offense, can result expulsion from camp without a refund.

Is this the right camp for a child with special needs?

MCAOP is a socially interactive and physically active experience. You know your child best and can determine if they are capable of participating at camp, behaviorally and physically. By signing up your child for camp, you are telling us your child is fully capable to participate at camp with no accommodations

Please feel free to contact us if you are unsure if MCAOP is the right camp for your child. We are happy to answer any questions, especially if your child requires medication, has an IEP or 504, or has experienced behavior issues in the past.

We reserve the right to cancel a reservation if we feel we cannot accommodate your child's special needs.

What type of training do counselors, coaches, and staff receive?

Counselors, coaches, and staff are carefully interviewed and vetted to ensure they'll be a good fit for MCA. All Staff will receive a Staff Manual and attend training meetings. Depending on the age and role of the staff member, they might need a background check, special certifications, or CPR and First Aid training.

What is the Camper to Staff ratio?

Each group has two counselors per 13-18 Campers. Each activity has at least one additional staff member assigned. Camper to staff ratios average between 1:4 and 1:8 depending on activity.

Can campers use cell phones at camp?

We vehemently discourage campers having cell phones at camp. There is too much risk for negative experiences. This has nothing to do with us not wanting parents and children to be in contact. The concerns are for what content campers can share/show each other and how cell phones can distract or prevent campers from engaging in activities.

Campers can talk to a staff member for assistance if they need to reach their parent, and vice versa.

What sports and activities are offered?

The sports offerings will differ each week depending on facility and coach availability. Weekly schedules will be posted before each summer session.

Photography & Filming Use

MCAOP uses camper photos for the parents, social media or marketing purposes.  Photos may also be posted on the website or on marketing materials. (With so many campers and some more camera shy than others, we cannot guarantee that your child will be photographed!)

If you do not want your child photographed, please inform MCAOP before your child begins camp.
