JUNIOR COUNSELORS

Junior Counselors (JCs) play a vital role at My City Allstars. To be a JC, participants must be 13–14 years of age and entering 8th or 9th grade. The purpose of the JC program is to give early teens the opportunity to develop leadership skills, gain work experience, and reinforce sports skills by teaching them to others. JCs are assigned to work with head coaches, the media team, or a specific age group to teach campers basic game skills, be proactive, and participate in and organize activities led by coaches. JCs gain volunteer hours and learn valuable lifelong skills.

Although JCs are not technically campers and are transitioning into more of a leadership role, they are still young and under the supervision of the staff. Typically, up to two JCs are assigned to each group, often one male and one female.

JCs should not expect to be assigned with their friends. (We find that it can be counterproductive in their leadership development.) In order to gain the most from the program JCs are expected to follow staff instructions, be at their designated locations, and are expected to proactively participate in camp activities throughout the day.

Tuition includes two JC shirts, which must be worn daily.

JCCC Summer Enrichment Program
Dual Enrollment

JCCC and MCAOP have coordinated together to offer Campers and JC's the opportunity to participate at MCAOP in the morning and JCCC's Summer Youth Enrichment Program in the afternoon. JCCC's Summer Youth Enrichment Program offers fun and interactive educational experiences for children entering grades 5-12. Each week they offer new and interesting courses. Check out their website to learn more about the programs they offer.

How dual enrollment will works:

  1. You will drop off your child between 8:30-9:00am at MCAOP at the Upper Fields.

  2. Your child will stay with MCAOP throughout the morning and lunch.

  3. Your child will be escorted by MCAOP staff to their JCCC program and arrive by its 1:00pm start time.

  4. You will pick up your child from the JCCC Summer Youth Enrichment Program at 4pm.

If you are interested in dual enrollment for your camper or JC, please contact Vicky Payne at vicky@mycityallstars.com to coordinate enrollment.

While MCAOP takes place on the JCCC campus, our camp is not affiliated with JCCC or their Summer Enrichment Program.

GROUPS

Campers are divided into groups by age, grade, and in some cases by gender. It is important that sports camp groupings account for safe and fair competition.

Typically, group sizes run anywhere from 13–18 campers.
